How long has MediaHols.com been in existence?

The website MediaHols.com was created in 2003, so has been offering holiday rentals for 20 years.

What is the philosophy of the company that publishes the site and offers this holiday rental service?

I think I can say, after 19 years of managing the business, that it is honesty and the desire to offer a quality service. When I read the owner and tenant reviews on the site, I think that is also the image that our users have.

What is the principal quality of the holiday properties offered on the website?

Without a doubt, it's the price! Far from those holiday rental sites which take commission between 15 to 30%, MediaHols.com has committed to keep administration fees very low (less than 1%) which allows our owners to offer cheap holiday rentals .

This saving often allows tenants to choose from properties they wouldn't normally have access to, for example: waterfront rentals, ski-in, ski-out apartments etc. This means they can also treat themselves to extras during their holiday (cultural visits, restaurants etc.).

Inexpensive holiday rentals, sounds interesting... but doesn't that mean compromising on holidaymakers' safety?

Quite the opposite! All the adverts for seasonal lets managed by the site are subject to anti-fraud checks, thanks to our Scamsentry™ software suite and our check procedures. This strategy has proved its worth. We are without doubt the only holiday rental website not to have recorded a single fraud in several years. A quick internet search will discover that.

What are the main tourist destinations, countries and regions?

Our owners rent out their holiday properties throughout southern Europe: France, Spain, Italy, Portugal. We have a number of seasonal lets in the Antilles predominantly in Martinique and Guadeloupe as well as the Indian Ocean, Mauritius and Réunion Island. And I was forgetting Morocco, the Balearic Islands and the Canary Islands.

We have a significant representation in coastal destinations, with a high number of seaside rentals: Brittany, the French Riviera, the Languedoc, Normandy, Puglia, Catalonia, Algarve etc.

We have properties to suit all budgets, from studio by the beach to villas with swimming pools.

We also publish adverts for ski accommodation and in mountain resorts, in the Alps, the Pyrenees, the Massif Central, the Vosges and the Jura in France, as well as Switzerland and Italy. You can find anything from cheap apartments, to luxury chalets.

We also offer holiday properties such as country houses, cottages and other accommodation, throughout the European regions: Provence, Périgord, Brittany, Luberon, Loire, Tuscany, Lombardy etc.

On this subject, the distance between holiday accommodation and the sea front or the ski slopes can often be a source of disagreement between owners and holidaymakers. How do you manage this issue?

To guarantee the reliability of adverts, the distance between the property and the sea, the ski slopes or the ski lifts is calculated by our server. You can therefore trust the adverts to be "seaside" "waterfront", "with seaview", "ski-in, ski-out". For numerous ski resorts, the ski slopes and ski lifts are indicated on the advert's map.

How do you check the quality of the rentals?

We automatically send tenants an invitation to provide their feedback on the accommodation they have rented. If the holidaymaker is dissatisfied or only moderately satisfied, we begin a 'quality inquiry'. If the complaint is proven, we ask that the owner edits the advert or improves the property. If this doesn't happen, the advert is withdrawn from the site, in accordance with our terms and conditions.

How do you position yourself in this highly competitive market?

MediaHols is a 'small' player in holiday rentals compared to the American giants Airbnb or Homeaway, but our small size allows us to be more responsive and efficient (against fraud, for instance), much less expensive (the structural costs are lower) and better quality.

MediaHols offers less choice than other competitors but without doubt, we offer the best possible value/safety/price in the seasonal rental market.
